Blog Post #4

Hello again friends!
I've been sick with the flu over the past week so I've had time to seriously think about my writing journey thus far. I began crafting my own stories when I was about twelve, and had the idea for my (supposed to be) debut novel when I was 15 and read the 'Rose Society' by Marie Lu. I'd always been in love with villains, but I'd never made my own. So, I was then inspired to create Vengeance's Vow, and I've been working on it since then and ONLY that.
It's taken me eight years to realize it, but I realized that I wasn't bound to one idea. Somewhere along the way, I'd refused to let myself work on any other ideas, shelving them and putting massive expectations onto myself. When I sat down to write and couldn't, I berated myself for it and felt like I was less of a writer.
Well, I am here to tell you that if you're doing the same thing as I was, it does NOT make you less of a writer. Open yourself up to the ideas to that come to you and don't be bound by a single idea you had. Of course, that doesn't mean I stopped procrastinating. That's still something I need to work on, but the big block I had in front of me is now gone.
That being said, I've shelved Vengeance's Vow release by a couple months. I've simply had no drive to work on it and therefore, have opened myself up to the other ideas that came to me, and will be working on those for now until I feel the spark for Vengeance's Vow again.
It's burger time.
Signing off,
Alauna
